2023 XR Carbon Kite Surfboards

Slingshot’s 2023 line of kite surfboards

Created with legendary shaper Al Emery and Slingshot athlete and kitesurf icon, Ben Wilson.

The three-board lineup includes the Burner XR that shreds the small- to medium-sized surf, the hard-charging Impact XR that’s built for true wave performance, and the Sci-Fly XR that’s a progressive freeride machine. Every aspect of each board has been carefully crafted to the exacting details of Al, Ben, and our design team. The result? The finest surfboards we’ve ever made and ones that will undoubtedly deliver a new level of performance to your kitesurfing.

Sci-Fly V2

The Sci Fly XR returns in its second iteration packed with even more performance. Featuring an all-new triple-channeled hull, the Sci Fly XR V2 is stiffer and loaded with even more explosive drive and pop for aerial maneuvers and on-water tracking. The XR Construction produces the perfect blend of weight and strength, providing you the highest-performance true surfboard feel to handle all the rigors of kitesurfing. The truncated nose design significantly reduces swing weight and provides a central control point on the board, making airs, spins, and skate-style tricks easier than any other board.

From Ben Wilson:

The vision with this board was to design an entry-level board for riders coming off a twin tip and wanting to get into the waves or ride strapless for the first time, but still for it to be amazing for intermediate to advanced strapless freestyle riders and most importantly work really well in the waves and to be perfectly honest it’s the best noseless board I’ve used to date in the waves. The design is based off the V1 Sci-fly with some tech thrown in from the best points from the boards I worked on with BWSurf over the years.

Impact XR V1

Our new Impact XR kite surfboard is a full-power, pedal-to-the-metal board, built to shred a clean wall of swell to pieces. Thanks to its narrower, pulled-in outline and squash tail, the Impact XR is right at home when the waves get big and powerful. Thanks to the Impact’s fast planing hull, the board rockets upwind on rail, getting you back to the top of the peak faster. Then take one step back with your back foot and the board is ready to dissect. The Impact has tons of hold and drive off the bottom, which helps set up and allows for radical hard craving turns off the top. If you’re looking for a high-confidence board for charging when the waves get juicy, look no further than the Impact!

From Ben:

Simply put this is the best performance board I’ve ever used in quality or steeper/faster waves, it drives perfectly off the bottom up into the pocket of the wave and really allows you to have full control at all times in critical moments. The design is inspired by one of Emery’s best performance shortboards with the volume taken out and my twist on some additional tech with the tail and concave etc.

Burner XR V1

Looking for a board that has a playful feel and can optimize any condition? Then look no further than the all-new Burner XR. The Burner features a more forward, wide-point outline, giving it a ton of float and drive in the pocket and its double instep tail shape gives it bite and hold when aggressively attacking the lip. Additionally, its wider tail block makes the board loose and playful, and its five-fin box configuration makes it extremely versatile. The Burner is the perfect blade to reach for when the winds turn onshore or the peak lacks a little punch.

From Ben:

The Burner is the other option for riders that don’t like the cut off nose shape and gel more with a traditional surfboard shape, it has all the same elements as the Sci-fly but leans more towards wave riding rather than strapless freestyle. It feels alive and incredibly nice to ride and is the ultimate light wind wave riding weapon in fun surf.
