The Slingshot Hover Glide modular hydrofoil can be ridden behind ANY boat – NO Wakeboard Boat, No Problem!

NO Wakeboard Boat, NO Problem.

Over the past few seasons we’ve discovered one of the most exhilarating new experiences on the water…the Hydrofoil. The best part is it works behind EVERY type of boat, a Jet Ski to a whaler to your uncle Ronnie’s sparkly “plum” bass boat…if she’s got a motor, she’ll do the trick. Why? Because the excitement of the foil doesn’t come from launching off a wave or wake, it comes from the floating sensation you experience at speeds as low as 8-12 mph. It’s a whole new balance point and stance unlike anything else behind a boat. The Hover Glide Foil keeps you constantly focused, engaged, and most importantly: STOKED.  Surely it will have you and your crew geeking out all summer as you master watersports’ latest challenge.

The closest comparison to the feel of foiling is perhaps powder skiing or snowboarding down a mountain. The ride is buttery smooth – like surfing through the clouds – with long drawn out turns and the added sensation of floating from the top to the bottom of the foil mast. As if it can’t get any better, the feeling is achievable almost every day of the year! Even on Labor Day with 20 other boats on your waterway. Foils are not affected by chop; they fly just below the water’s surface, giving every session that glassy-day feeling.

  • “It’s the most fun thing I’ve done behind a boat in 20 years” – said former pro Wakeboarder Chase Heavener.
  • “I’m having dreams about flying these things” – Scott Byerly, Wakeboarding Legend
  • “The foil can open all sorts of new doors” said Slingshot Brand Manager Jeff McKee, “It will have you looking at every body of water with a whole new perspective…from pumping ponds to riding swells to simply rising above the choppy waters for a buttery smooth session.”
  • “We’ve seen an overwhelming amount of people re-engaging with watersports through the intrigue of the foil.  Several start in lakes and end up in the oceans participating in our other foil categories like Surf, Kite, Wind, and SUP.” – Slingshot CEO Jeff Logosz

Because of a foil’s efficiency and minimal drag (plus a whole lot of hydrodynamic formula’s and properties), foils are also able to surf much smaller waves than a traditional wakesurf boards. So, if you’re the owner of a ski boat with a smaller wave looking to get into wakesurfing, the Hover Glide FSurf foil is a great option. Even on a basic i/o you can set the rope length to 70 – 80 feet and the speed to 11 MPH and surf the 2nd wave back – a perfectly safe distance from the back of an outboard or i/o and LOADS of fun! Even better, drop the rope and try for 3rd or 4th wave back!

The moral of the story: Foils bring new excitement to all types of boats and waterways. From Jet Ski’s to barges, you’re guaranteed to look at things with a whole new perspective!
