We’re pleased to announce that the Slingshot Marketing team is evolving. A leader in creating high performance kite and wake boarding gear, Slingshot has always valued telling our product and brand stories in ways that stand out. We feel these moves make it possible for us to not only continue to stand out, but seriously change the industries we work in and do something that is completely fresh. This winter, Gary Huck became our new Creative Director. Chris Schey is moving into the position of Marketing Assistant for kiteboarding. They both join Wade Wagley, who became our Brand Manager for the wake side of the business last spring. Together, they will dramatically expand the capability of the current Marketing Team.

Huck will be leading all of the marketing efforts for Slingshot as well as guiding the branding and visual design for all communication platforms. He will directly manage both the wake and kite side of the brand, working closely with Wagley on wake and Schey on kite. Huck will focus much of his time toward developing a deeper brand engagement through digital and social media channels as well as enhancing Slingshot’s relationships with the traditional advertising partners. Our goal is to not only push amazing content to our audiences, but to create a true conversation between our company, our Team riders and the people who ride our products every day.

Huck comes to Slingshot with almost 15 years of agency experience working with a variety of outdoor clients like CamelBak, CLIFBar, Nike, and Keen Footwear as well as large global brands like Pepsi, Heineken and Intel to name a few. He has been the Interactive Creative Director for StruckAxiom in Portland for the past four years where he led a talented group of designers and developers to create engaging, memorable marketing stories.

Part of the Slingshot team since 2008, Wade Wagley transitioned into his current role as Wake Brand Manager back in May of 2010. With an incredible background and knowledge of the wake industry, he has helped shaped Slingshot’s rapid growth and industry leading technology. He has worked closely with both R+D and marketing to evolve our industry and progress the first flex technology. His impact has absolutely been noticed by everyone within the wakeboarding community.

Chris Schey has been part of the Slingshot team since 2006 and a rider since 1999. As our kite Marketing Assistant, he’ll be focusing deeply on creating and directing content that is immersive and drives the brand forward. He’ll be working closely with the Team Riders and continue to expand the development in all our social media platforms.

Schey will also still be involved with the Rider Hotline support. Schey began at Slingshot as a customer service and tech support representative via Rider Hotline. As his involvement grew, he began to support the domestic sales as a rep for both the Midwest and Southwest regions for kite. We all feel strongly that these experiences keep him in touch with the vast community of riders throughout the world. His inside perspective of our kite culture and legacy is incredibly valuable.

Huck, Schey and Wagley will be based at the Slingshot headquarters in Hood River, Oregon, but you’ll find them on the water around the world this year as they connect our community of riders to the many unique and authentic stories of our products and culture. Be sure to say Hi….
